D3-O9 Virtual Assistant Droid

D3-O9 was an AI logistics droid aboard Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser, Walt Disney World’s two-night immersive Star Wars hotel experience, which ran from March 2022 to September 2023. Guests could hold conversations with the droid from every cabin in the hotel.
Contract work for Disney Imagineering, delivered through Bolder Games. I helped build the systems that connected the droid to its backend and streamed it to every room, as well as its dynamic animation.
What I worked on
- Built the TCP communication adapter that let Unreal talk to the backend services, carrying every guest conversation between the droid on screen and the services powering it
- Contributed to the dynamic animation system that drove D3’s animation in real time from its voice lines
- Helped set up Unreal’s pixel streaming so that the experience could be delivered to each room’s screen on a thin client
